Sept 5 Bonavista

We departed St. John’s at 8 am after a farewell to Kathryn and drove to the Thorburn Lake campground just north of Clarenville. We dropped the trailer there and headed up to Bonavista. Some wonderful country and beautiful lakes and ocean views. At Cape Bonavista  I took a few shots and the camera battery went dead. But it was so fresh and warm. A simply gorgeous day. Ten back to the campground. Many had left as the Labour Day holiday is over but a few crying babies still about.

Grand Falls to Conception Bay South

A much nicer day today weatherwise. Were told that there would be construction delays of up to 2 hours enroute but lucked out at about 30 seconds. Arrived at CBS in time to join the Rotary Club of Avalon Northeast and celebrate the rededication of a park bench, ( the original was vandalized)  to the Late PDG Trevor Atkin who, with his dog spent many hours at the Rotary Park in Topsail, NL.

Port aux Basque to Grande Falls

The product below is a special product from Sam Adams that is available only as a gift from the owner. It is “beer” that is more like a cognac. Beautiful !!!!  Mike’s daughter is brewmaster at Sam Adams so he gets special treatment.

The photos below show the wonderful scenery between Port aux Basque and Grand Falls. A wonderful day with a special evening with Mike and Sheila Goodyear

We have made it to Port aux Basque in foggy and rainy weather and settled into a campground in Doyles called Grand Codroy. We had planned to stay in the parking lot of the Travel Bureau in Port aux Basque but they would no longer permit overnight stays.
